Priority Partner Program | Helps Residents Become Part of the Quail Haven Village Community
November 5, 2024
Laura Lee Jordan and her husband, Daniel B. Jordan, did their homework before deciding to make their next home at Quail Haven Village, a full-service rental retirement community in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Their decision was solidified as they visited the community, enjoyed activities, and socialized with other residents as part of the community’s Priority Partner Program. This initiative entitles future residents to put down a small, refundable deposit that reserves a home style of their liking.
As soon as their independent living home, which, in the case of the Jordans, was a two-bedroom independent living villa, becomes available, the Priority Partner members are notified. If they choose not to move at that particular time, their name goes to the bottom of the list, and they are notified the next time a home of their choosing becomes available.
Laura Lee says the couple’s decision to relocate to Quail Haven started with a phone call. “We liked what we heard and then we looked at photos of Quail Haven online and liked what we saw,” Laura Lee says.
The next step was to visit the community, where they were impressed by the welcoming attitude and friendly atmosphere.
“As soon as we parked by the office, a man asked us why we were there, and he told us, ‘I’ve been here eight years, and my only regret is that I waited so long,’” she says. “That comment was unsolicited.”
A host couple, who already lives at Quail Haven, showed them around the community and joined them for dinner.
Again, Laura Lee was impressed by the warmth of the other residents. “People came up to us like a parade, asking us, ‘Are you going to move here?’ and telling us “I’ve lived here two years, or I’ve lived here for 27 years, and I love it. If this wasn’t a happy place, they wouldn’t do that.”
When the Jordans decided to put their name on the Priority Partner list, they felt assured it was a good decision but also knew that it was not immediately set in stone. If, for any reason, they decide not to move to Quail Haven, the Priority Partner deposit they provided will be returned to them. Should they move to the community, the monies would be applied to their Security Deposit.
As part of their search for a senior living community, they visited other communities but kept coming back to Quail Haven.
“It’s comfortable,” she says. “It has red brick buildings and ground-level living. And you can go ahead and plant flowers in the front or the back. They look like little homes.” As soon as the community’s garden apartments become available, they are updated with luxury vinyl plank flooring, fresh paint, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplashes and new carpet.
All of the garden apartments are one-story with no long hallways to navigate. Floor plans vary from 520 square feet to more than 1,400 square feet.
Lynne Valliere, sales and marketing director at Quail Haven, says the community wants residents to be sure they are making the right move, and the Priority Partner Program helps them feel that confidence. It also helps them begin to make connections and build friendships with other residents as they are encouraged to take part in programs such as trips to concerts, the theater and other events.
Residents of Quail Haven also have access to golf at Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst, and Laura Lee says that was another draw for her husband, who is a golfer.
Laura Lee is anticipating becoming a regular user of the nearby FirstHealth Fitness Center that residents also have access to. Quail Haven provides transportation to and from the center.
“You can say you want to go to the gym on Tuesday and Thursday, and they have cars that will come and get you,” she says.
The Jordans also like that Quail Haven provides a continuum of care that includes assisted living, rehabilitation, and skilled care. They can also continue to live independently if their ability to do daily tasks diminishes.
“If you need help you can have someone who comes in to assist you,” she says.
Moving is never easy, but Laura Lee says the staff at Quail Haven have made the difficult process easier by assuring that details are met.
“They are so organized,” she says.
Last but not least of, the Jordans’ reasons for moving from the Priority Partner Program to becoming residents is no longer having to maintain a single-family house.
Housekeeping is one of the amenities provided to residents, along with a host of others, that lead to stress-free living.
“No more cleaning the gutters,” Laura Lee says.
